Yes, We Can/ DID!!!
There was a polling place in Grand Rapids, MI where the wait was up to 3 hours. Now, I know there are other places where the wait is longer but:

This is a low income, predominantly black precinct where voter turn-out is historically low.

There was a RECORD number of FIRST TIME voters there.

NO ONE left because they didn't want to wait.

Thankfully, the weather was not the usual November weather for Michigan. We had record high temps and no rain. And the local Obama Mamas brought out food and bottled water. Chairs were provided to the elderly.

Spirits were good....for the first time many of these people felt their vote COULD and WOULD make a difference!!

Hope- it's a wonderful thing.

What also really excited me was the response from OUTSIDE the US. So many countries/people look to the US to lead and they have been so hurt/angry over the last administration. No matter that many of us did not vote for "he who shall remain nameless," the fact that he won reflected on all of us. Now, instead of saying "hey, don't blame me; I didn't vote for him" I can hold my head up and say "darned right I voted for him!!!"

It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood!!

Hugs to all,

Relief and happiness. And a new era for the US. What could be better?

Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
