Home Safe
Made it home in one (achy) piece late on the 22nd. On the 23rd (Joey's 16th birthday) a storm blew through and we lost power. Since the power company was saying we might get power back by 11:59pm on the 26th I sent Joey to a friend's house and my "new" son, Austin (he's living with us for the winter as he's playing AAA hockey on the team Jamie is the assistant coach for; he's from Caspar, Wyoming) to another coach's house (who had power). I was going to go stay out at the farm but it cooled off enough that I wasn't too uncomfortable (and I really wanted to sleep in my own bed after several nights of motels) so I stayed here. The power came back on Saturday and I have spent the rest of the time working on the commission piece that needs to be done by the 7th.

So, there you have it.....short and sweet. I will post pics and more later this week.

On the Road Again
Well, I know I haven't done much blogging the last few weeks....with a house full of 20-somethings it's been kind of crazy....I am now in Fredericton, New Brunswick which (for a quick social studies/geography lesson) is the capital of the province. Nouveau Brunswick is the only one of the Maritime Provinces that is constitutionally bilingual...

Anyway, I am settled in and watching Jeopardy. Will soon be turning lights out in preparation to sleep for an early start tomorrow. It is going to be a bummer not waking up to see the front harbor tomorrow....

Sighs of Relief
Breathing better in Chester.....Was concerned about Vicky Taylor-Hood (www.seastrandsstudio.com) over in Newfie-land as they had flooding from the same tropical storm that glanced off Nova Scotia but she assures me all is well with them. Next scare was the bridge collapse in Minneapolis as I have friends from my college days at the University of Wis- Mad City living in and near the Twin Cities. Thankfully all is well there too.

So, I did manage to get two more curtains done last night before succumbing to my allergy meds and the siren call of my bed. This morning I have two electricians here installing 4 ceiling fans, my favorite handy man (Robbie) has fixed two Muskoka chairs (Adarondack to we Yanks), hung another curtain rod for the French doors in the TV room, fixed my closet doors and is currently putting together bedframes and headboards. Later he will "whipper-snipper" (weed whack) and weed the limited flower beds.....It's really coming together. Now I need 3 bids on the landscaping and 3 bids on finishing the lower level so I can get all this sewing stuff down there and have the living room function as it was meant to.

My dad wants me to have a barbeque here for the family when Jamie gets here. Hmmmm....that's Dad and Janet, Jamie, me, Kath, her three kids, David, Kath's DH Steve if he's home.....I have two bar stools, 4 dining chairs, and 4 Muskoka chairs on the deck.....hey, it's doable!

Now, the question is, what to fix?? Lobbies? Or the Cornish hens dad wants.......

Home in Chester
Actually, we only stayed on PEI one night. Went up Saturday and had a lovely trip. The weather was nice if a tad hot. We took the Caribou- Woods Islands Ferry across and really lucked out as we crossed paths with the Tall Ship, "Bluenose II." The Bluenose is a replica of a racing schooner built in 1921. In 18 years she never lost a race.

The Bluenose II

Sunday morning we woke up to rain, rain, and more rain courtesy of a tropical storm in the area. It did finally stop raining (and got hot and humid) but we had already decided to go home. So, no golf match, no trip to the Bay of Fundy.

I have been working on finishing up the curtains for the living room as the sun coming in, unobstructed in the morning really heats the place up and has contributed strongly to migraines for me.

Window looking directly south that already has curtains

Windows with no curtains facing east

New addition- a lamp with lights on top and under and shelves for cool *stuff*

About Me

Name: Teri Springer
Home: Chester, Nova Scotia, Canada
About Me: Studio Art Quilt Associates for the Atlantic Canada Region (New Brunswick, Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
