Checking In
Well, if I could update my picture today it would be wearing rain gear...It has been overcast and wet ever since I arrived in Nova Scotia. Drove home from the airport Friday night in a deluge and the Chevy Aveo I was driving was not something I would want to hit something in or be hit in (no butt on the thing...literally, it looks like they forgot to finish the car. But, I made it.

Here I sit in my sister's kitchen with no camera and there is this beautiful cock pheasant right out the window posing for me. Really. He has given me multiple angles- both profiles, front shot, back shot, from the back with the flirty glance over the shoulder....he's a real ham. Then there's the female mallard who has decided the pool is hers. Oh, and the lovely female white tail who strolled through the back yard a few minutes ago. Add to that the normal complement of huge crows, blue jays, etc. and it's a regular little wildlife camp here. Kathy has a tad over two acres here and the house is on the front of it so much is still wooded. It's lovely. Now if mum just hadn't taken the camera with her to the city!

Kath is at work, brother David is down the street at the rental house enjoying his peace and quiet, mum and dad are in Halifax looking for stuff for their almost complete condo, bil Steve is in FLA working and the kids are all at school. Chez Glass is having their preseason sale in why am I sitting here?? Well, first because mum also wanted to go to Chez Glass but mainly because I put a bid in on a house in the village and I am waiting to hear back from the realtor. I know the sellers will have to counter but the question is, how far down will they (actually, she) come?? So I sit here, ready to chew my nails to the quick and turning grayer but the minute......I hope this doesnt drag on too long because I want to go into Halifax tomorrow to see the Gee's Bend exhibit and an exhibit by a local quilt artist at the Mary Black Gallary. But, getting this house is a priority. I won't post any pictures of it (I used mum's camera) because I don't want to jinx it but please, everyone, pray really hard!!!

Spring Cleaning
Ok, I am still without a camera as I have yet to figure out where I stashed my battery charger. You will have to take my word for it that it is BEAUTIFUL here. My best friend and I sat out on the front porch last night sipping wine while we waited for her husband to show up from the train station with their daughter (the med student) and her new fella. We were really curious as Andi, despite her physical beauty and exceptional intelligence, seems to have a talent for losers....fabulously good looking losers but losers none-the-less. When Tara asked her about this guy Andi's reply was "mom, he makes me laugh." Finally, sounds like a winner to me. And, after meeting him, he's pretty sweet. Attractive without looking like a male model, obviously intelligent (goes without saying if he's in med school) and very personable. Will hold final judgement but he's a big improvement over the last several (including a relative of my ex's) controlling jerks. It's funny how these guys see this sweet, petite, blond girl who is very soft spoken and think they can make her march to their music even after having dated her a while. Just proves they didn't bother to really get to know her because Andi has a mind of her own and is VERY strong willed- kind of like her "Aunt" Teri.....

Well, back to cleaning the studio to see if I can find that darned battery charger.

I just don't even know what to say about the tragedy at VT. I don't know what is going on in this world when so many people seem to feel that the solution to their problems is to kill someone. It's a sick, sick world.

I just don't have anything else to say about it.....I am in shock.

I'm going to go do mindless things, like dishes and filling the birdfeeder because mindless tasks are all I am capable of at the moment.

Veryyyyyyyy Funny Gaia
Our beautiful spring has turned back into winter. The last three days have brought cold and snow. All my beautiful flowers are frozen. I will post pictures tomorrow. I just don't have the energy tonight.

Our basement is nearly done. The couch came today and it's TOO BIG. Too bad, I'm keeping it. I think if I move it back it will be ok. Tomorrow Joey's bed comes. Wednesday the Dish Network guy comes to get the big TV downstairs working and switched over to high definition. Then we still need to move the TV in the living room downstairs. I will have a 13" flat screen for the kitchen that I can also use in the weaving room. Oh and speaking of weaving, I took a set of lease sticks and a raddle (for you non-weavers, I will post pictures tomorrow and explain better) to the shop. The head cabinet maker (I had expected this job to be given to an apprentice but Larry likes to do stuff for me) made me my own (the ones I took in belong to the KIA). He used scraps of maple from my cabinets. These have to be the fanciest lease sticks and raddle ever. Now I just need to finish wrapping the warp for my towels so I can warp my loom. I also can't wait to get my dyeing studio back. One of the skeins of yarn I dyed at the KIA workshop was this really heavy, rough wool meant for rugs. I have some more (got it from a weaver in Evanston, IL, my mom's home town, who was destashing in prep for her first child's birth). Anyway, it turned out so cool I want to dye the rest of it so I can weave a rug when I finish the 4 towels.

Ok, off to continue trying to delete old emails. My Thunderbird is acting funky and only allows me to delete a limited number before it freezes up so I am trying to get rid of as many as possible so I can copy and paste what I want to keep so I can dump the entire program and reload it.....

About Me

Name: Teri Springer
Home: Chester, Nova Scotia, Canada
About Me: Studio Art Quilt Associates for the Atlantic Canada Region (New Brunswick, Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
