Hello Hates Me
Now you can see where Melody's spectacular painting, "Ponies" ended up. It is now gracing the mantle in my condo. This painting takes my breath away every time I look at it.

And this is my "find" from the other day. It's a wild Silk moth. He (or she) was lying quite dead in the landscape rocks....

Well, I would really like to post a bunch of pictures but Hello no longer works for me. Every time I try to log on I get the message "the UI failed to initialize. If there are no other running copies you should reinstall."

I have now reinstalled 4 times and still get that message. Needless to say I am pissed off. There is no way to directly email Hello for tech support that I can find. I posted my problem on the Hello/Picasa forum but am not real hopeful that I will get a timely answer.

HELP!!!!

What a Find
Yesterday afternoon I took Joey to Natural Solutions, a health treatment spa/chiro office near us. The owner is an old friend. Dr. Tom adjusted Joey's back and also had his tech (another good friend, Maria) do an ultrasound treatment on Joey's sore arm.

Well, that isn't the find (altho it was amazing how much less pronounced Joey's scoliosis was after being adjusted). The find was a huge moth I found lying dead in the landscaping outside the office. I looked it up tonight and was surprised to find out it was a Cecropia silkmoth (Hyalophora cecropia). I will post a picture of him/her tomorrow.....

Busy, Busy
Ok, I know I promised a shot of the dyeing studio when I got back from Chicago....well, I am having lights installed Wednesday so I am going to wait (it is REALLY dark down there). Also, I haven't put together any of the storage cabinets or shelving units yet so nothing is put away. The young man who I am having put them together is going to be gone for the next two weeks. He's in our 4H group and the older kids and leaders are leaving for a Lakota Souix reservation in South Dakota on Sunday to do community service for a week and a half so, I have to wait. And yes, I could put the stuff together myself but: a) I have other things I need to be doing; B) Kevin will do the job right and not lose patience with it; and C) he's going into his senior year and needs the money. So, I will post pics soon, really.

This weekend Joey and I are off to Olivet, MI because he is playing in a baseball tournament. The motel does have wireless so I will try to find time to post. Thankfully (sort of) I have plenty of postcard tops sewn that need embellishment to take with me....

Road Trip
I am off tomorrow morning to Oak Brook (SW suburb of Chicago), IL to meet my dad and Janet. They are in town (from Nova Scotia) for an open house for a bank my dad is on the Board of Directors of....so, it will be lunch at the DuPage Club and then shopping at Oak Brook Center (a wonder of an open air mall with wonderful gardens), back to the hotel and then off to the open house. Hopefully I can squeeze in a stop at the "Container Store" which is right next to the Oak Brook Center.

Back home on Friday hopefully in time for son's ballgame.

I will post pics of the completed work table in the dye studio when I return.

Indigo
Well, I had to post this one because it IS me......

You Are Indigo

Of all the shades of blue, you are the most funky, unique, and independent.
Expressing yourself and taking a leap of faith has always been easy for you.

Quick Post
Just a quick morning post...the first daylily of the summer at the farm (some of the Stella d'Oro's have opened at the condo). This is one that I just planted this spring!! I am trying to get a variety of daylilies that bloom over the entire spectrum of the season....

So, I am off to Bed, Bath & Beyond. Last week when I went I bought one set of king sheets (for the top sheet and pillowcases) and only one set of twins (for the fitted bottom and pillowcases) for the new, split king, tempurpedic with dual controls....I DID remember to get two twin mattress pads tho.

My Dosha
Well, not sure how accurate, especially the part about listening more than talking....

Your Dosha is Kapha

Calm and grounded, you are not prone to mood swings or anger.
However, once you do get angry, it takes a lot to cool you down.
You tend to think a little slower than most people, but your logic is astounding.
Overall, you very loyal and trustworthy. You're not scared of being who you really are.

With friends: You enjoy their company, but often listen more than talk

In love: You crave connection and affection. It's hard for you to be single.

To achieve more balance: Exercise vigorously (especially in the sun) and let go of attachments.

Meanwhile, Back at the Studio
Sorry- gotta run to a LL game. Will post the captions when I get back.

My front porch at the condo/studio. Note the nice new, green wicker chairs and table.

I fell in love with these coleus. Too bad they don't fit in the decorative pots a bought. The honeysuckle on the right is already twining around the railings. The orange pot has 2 kinds of basil.

A better shot of the new furniture. Still looks kinda bare, but, I'm working on it.

The count in the finch nest is now 5.

Out back we see the new Shade Sail (an Aussie invention). It makes a real difference once that sun clears the peak of the roof around noon.

I received a 20% off the entire purchase coupon from Bed, Bath & Beyond. So, I went shopping. Note the wine glasses, martini set and Margarita set. I would have bought more but I was having trouble keeping everything in the cart.

This is Cal, from "Handyman Matters." He is building me a 10' long table for working in the dyeing studio. He also installed the Shade Sail.

This is the sink. The table fits between it and the wall to the right. Next will be the electrician to install lighting and more outlets. THEN, I am set!!!!

Sigh- don't usually do anything traditional but, the last of the nieces on my husband's side is getting married July 1st in Charlevoix, MI at a *castle.* Her mom asked me to make her a signature quilt like I did for the first niece to get married. I stopped making them after nephew #1 (my darling Kyle) got divorced about 6 weeks after his first wedding (she KEPT all the gifts). But, Shelley said she's not superstitious so, here is the first row....will be 30" x 30" without the border....Payschence likes yellow and, since she's getting married in wine country, the grape fabric. So, it's "Early Morning in the Vineyard."

Meme From RSR
"The ABCs of Me"

Got this meme from Deb at Red Shoe Ramblings

Accent - Pure Midwest

Booze - Hmmmmm.....wine, especially sweet white; vodka tonics; Margaritas; martini's and either Molson Ice or Killian's.

Chore I hate - Anything resembling cleaning.

Dog/cat - 1 passive-aggressive german shepherd and 1 really dumb (but cute) cat

Essential electronics - Computer, digital camera, DVD player, cell phone; waiting for the delivery of my portable XM radio.

Favorite perfume - Jo Malone- especially the Orange Blossom, French Lime Blossom and 154.

Gold/silver - Well, I am not much of a jewelry wearer. Mostly just my wedding band, engagement ring and the Rolex my dad bought my mom in Switzerland.

Hometown - Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo.

Insomnia - Not generally.

Job title - According to my husband, none. According to me: artist.

Kid(s)- Two boys: Jamie- age 22, full time student, part time hockey and track coach and part time gopher for his Uncle Tim's rental business. Right now, with a broken right hand he isn't doing much. Joey- age almost 15, student, baseball player, skateboarder/snowboarder and currently taking driver's training.

Living arrangements - Plain old gray ranch walkout on a 213 acre farm between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, Michigan with my husband and Joey.

Most admirable trait - Hmmmm- ok, like Deb, I'm an optimist (one of the docs I used to work with called me a "f****** Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farms") but I am also a bit of a hermit. But, if you are my friend and you need something I am there!

Number of countries visited - Uh, two...US and Canada. I am not much of a traveler but I do want to go to New Zealand.

Overnight hospital stays - Oh my, let's see: I don't know how many days for my appendix when I was six, 8 weeks in traction when I broke my femur then back in for a couple of weeks to have it plated when it didn't heal; 5 days for Jamie and 3 for Joey and overnight to get my gallbladder out.

Phobias - Heights, enclosed places and tight stuff around my neck.

Quote - "I am so far out of the mainstream you can't get there from here." me

Religion - Seeker. Not a *Christian.* Reading Gnostic book right now. Mostly just try to follow the Golden Rule.....

Siblings - One step-brother, one step-sister, both younger; still haven't met David but love Kathy and her family.

Time you usually wake - 6:00-ish AM

Unusual talent - None- absolutely none.

Vegetable I refuse to eat - None- haven't met one yet I don't like.

Worst habit - Too much time spent on this machine!!!

X-rays - See hospitalizations.

Yummy foods I make - Too many to list. My meatloaf is very popular both the night of and as leftovers (when there are any).

Ok, I am tagging Gerrie of Crazy for Fiber, Peggy of Sweet Grass Arts, and Shirley of Dyeing 2 Design.

Me All Over
Thanks to Laurie Peters of PAQA for posting this. It is me, to a *T*:

Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D. - Age Activated
Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and
decide my car needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch
table that I brought up from the mailbox earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage
can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the
garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take
out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one
check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house
to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke
aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I realize the Coke is getting
warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the
counter catches my eye--they need to be watered.

I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses
that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to
water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with
water and suddenly I spot the TV remote Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for
the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to
put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the
floor.

So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe
up the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to
do.

At the end of the day:

the driveway is flooded

the car isn't washed,

the bills aren't paid,

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter,

there is still only one check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really
baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for
it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

Do me a favor, will you? Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don't remember who I have sent it to.

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!

AARRGGGHHHHHHHHH
Well, this is just a mess! No, not my blog (ok, well, I DO still have work to do). First, I couldn't *see* the blog "Frequently Wrong But Never in Doubt" - literally. The page comes up blank for me. Neither Diane nor I can figure out why. Now, all of a sudden, Sonji's blog is coming up blank for me! OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have a clue why just these two?? I have Firefox and it was just updated last week and I know I checked Sonji's blog successfully since the update.

On the art front- took Loon and Self Portrait to the KIA yesterday. Now I have to wait about 2 weeks to hear if one or both or neither is juried into the West Michigan Art Show. In the meantime, I have other stuff to work on.

Funny thing happened Friday. The first Friday of every month there is an Art Hop in Kalamazoo. For those of you who think Kalamazoo is a hodunk town, think again. We have a large and talented and well supported art community here. Any way- the June Art Hop is special because the KIA Art Fair is the day after and other art festivals have sprung up over the years for those who don't get into the KIA fair. This Friday there were 42 stops on the Hop. My best friend and I took our "daughter" Shawn out to celebrate the fact that she passed her exams and is officially Dr. Shawn Dolan, DVM (long story). Our first stop was the Smartshop which is a gallery and metal working studio owned by the delightful and very talented Holly Fisher. We arrived and were handed programs for a silent and live auction fundraiser. We wandered around and Tara and Shawn wandered off while I was busy bidding on several items and buying others. When we finally left Tara asked me if I realized that this was a fund raiser for the local Gay/Lesbian group. Well, yeah, duh. She started laughing.....here we were, three woman together.....no men. I told her it was good to keep people guessing. BTW, I am a big supported of the GKGLBT group. If that bothers any of my readers, well, too bad. EVERYONE deserves support and respect and the same human rights no matter what....so there.

Oh, and Holly has offered to be my gallery rep. How cool!

When I get the beautiful shadow caster I bought that she made I will post it. I need to take my husband's truch to go get it as it will not fit in my Tribeca. It is going to look SO cool out on the patio of the condo!!

My Garden is Blooming Too!

While one group of iris are done blooming, I still have these three in bloom and many fans that have not bloomed (and may not until next year)

This one is not only hugh (as big as my hand) but the fragrance is strong and lovely! However, you have to get close as the scent from my lilacs kind of overrides everything else

This pale blue iris doesn't have much of a scent but it's a nice contrast to the others. It's hard to believe that I bought all of these 2 years ago at the Farmer's Market for about $1-$3 per fan. They are spreading nicely but I think I need to go again this fall and get some yellows
My Garden Fairy is still visible. She soon won't be if I don't get out there and weed and get the rest of the mulch down tho!

About Me

Name: Teri Springer

About Me: Studio Art Quilt Associates for the Atlantic Canada Region (New Brunswick, Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
