Just another day
Not a special day at all. Ok...the sun was out. That is an event in Michigan in the winter. But, other than that, not much.

Did get an idea for a quilt from a song on son Joey's new favorite CD. I am not much on drawing and generally work intuitively however, I will doodle a bit in my sketchbook and see what I come up with.

Beading and Beading and.....Knitting
Have put in a lot of time beading. Much of it spent trying to decide where and what to bead. Today I set the piece aside. I had thought about getting it done and entering Sacred Threads but the deadline for them to have slides *in hand* is 2/1 and I am still not ready to put the backing on or do the final quilting much less take pictures for slides. Ok, so I miss this one. I DID say I was going to enter at least one show this year and, with a deadline of May 10, I will shoot for the Fine Art Quilts 2005 being jointly done by Michele Hardy and Arleen Blackburn. This piece is too small and I will just save it for the gallery but, it has been a good step into the companion piece which is not done but will be large enough to enter....My biggest problem seems to be too many ideas and not being able to work fast enough to do them all. I have to fight my natural ADD personality which wants to have me jump from project to project so I can finish these. Nick's quilt has two more blocks to complete and I will do so this week. Then, it's back to the Round and Round Series. For tonight, I have a scarf to knit for Joey's friend Anna who is having a birthday party Friday night. I am sure glad I knit fast!!

Random observation: short hair does not *sleep* well. I love having fairly short hair (less than shoulder length) as it requires very little care however, it always looks a mess in the morning. I guess because it doesn't have the weight to pull down the mess. Even after brushing, it persists in standing at odd little angles around my head.

My horoscope for today: The proverbial power of positive thinking does much now to help you on your quest. Maybe you cannot manifest anything you visualize, but it could feel that way. Use your mind with awareness, for if you reach too far, your plan can fall apart. On the other hand, if you don't reach at all, rest assured that no progress will be made

Now, I know these are so generic so they can fit anyone but, regardless, I can still often find something to take with me for the day. So, I will *go make some progess* on my quilt. Can't go to the art exhibition I wanted to attend today in Dowagiac due to the weather. But, if you want to see some amazing work by a native, North American artist, go to: http://mishmountains.com

Namaste!

Beautiful Day- Finishing Commitments
Well, the sun is shining and the snow looks great. What is even better is it is supposed to snow more tonight. I was concerned about my sister going to Findlay, OH tomorrow with the equestrian team (she's the coach) for Western MI University but the competition has been rescheduled. Now I can relax and enjoy the snow storm (if it ever comes).

I need to spend the weekend completing the quilt I started for the son of a lady on an internet group I am in. I should not have offered to make it because it has taken a lot longer than it should have and I feel badly that I have not gotten it to him yet (he had a bone marrow transplant) but also because it has made it impossible for me to do anything else. However, it is pretty cool. I will be glad when I can send it on and I hope he enjoys it.

My 13 year old is home from school today because there was a power outage at the school. Goody. I love him dearly but he sure puts a crimp in my creativity.

So, it's off to the studio to do some more quilting on Nick's quilt.....

It's A Start
I am SO sick of watching the inauguration on TV. I should just turn it off and go turn on the stereo...which I will do as soon as I finish this.

I have been reading Melody Johnson's blog (Fibermania) and decided I should get off the couch and do one of my own. So, this is the start.

Like Melody, I make art quilts (no where near HER level of skill) and also knit. Finished a *hairy* hat last night that prompted my 13 year old to call me a freak....in my book, that's a good thing. Now I need more black yarn to make a scarf to go with it and maybe some mittens (the two yarns combined are just too thick for gloves).

Now it's time for me to get back into the studio. I have been so sick the last week and a half that I have accomplished NOTHING. So, will go get some work done before coming back to the computer to work on learning Adobe GoLive so I can get my new website up and running.

Round and Round Series Piece A. I started this in a workshop with Melody Johnson last August. I really like the way it has turned out (it isn't quite done yet) and had hoped to enter it in a show. Alas...it is too small. Fortunately, the second in the series is still being fused and will be larger so it will qualify for the show I want to put it in. Posted by Hello

About Me: Studio Art Quilt Associates for the Atlantic Canada Region (New Brunswick, Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
