Working on Ideas for the Studio
Ok, I am working on these ideas to store fabric so it is easly accessible yet out of site when I am not actively pulling fabrics for something and protected from light. Also, need to be able to store my thread so I can protect it from light but be able to look at the array of colors available without having to pull every thing out, as I do now. It will be so nice to have a real studio rather than trying to work in the tiny section of our living room that I have now because I have stuff in one of the closets of my bedroom, stuff in an armoire in the bedroom and a ton of stuff downstairs. It will also be nice to have limited distractions and space to dye fabric!! Still, it will probably be next spring before we can start building (I wanted to start this fall but my family hollered because the new house and studio will be across the pond from our woods and the construction will disrupt the deer. Heaven forbid I should interfere with deer hunting (this IS Michigan and deer hunting IS a religion here).

Where have you been!! This is a very ambitious project - ah, youth! I have some inexpensive, colorful IKEA cabinets for my fabric and stuff. I like them because the doors are in colors. They have different modules tht you can stack together. So one module has drawers for my tools, etc. Steve says I need more storage - he is right- and so we are looking at building shelves along my design wall and putting the design wall on the front and design it so that it slides open or is on hinges. Just a pipe dream. I will try to post pictures of my shelves.

Cool Gerrie!! Yeah, we were going to build the new house and studio in the UP but, we are just going to keep the UP as our retreat....but the house we are living in we built when we first got married and didn't have much money. Now that we can afford something nicer we are going to build overlooking our pond (I will post pics) and I DEMAND a studio and space to hold retreats....

About Me: Studio Art Quilt Associates for the Atlantic Canada Region (New Brunswick, Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
