| My Fellow Bloggers and Artists |
I have found that I have become *addicted* to reading the other blogs in the Artful Quilters ring on an almost daily basis. It's like catching up with good friends and it can be a good way to wake my muse up. I find myself SO disappointed when I click on a blog and find it hasn't been updated....some in a LONG time (you know who you are). Now, I admit that I don't update my blog daily. Sometimes I will go a week or so without finding the time. But I really do try to update daily.
Another thing that disappoints me is how few comments I get. Sometimes I feel like no one is reading my blog so why bother. As a result, I have made the effort to post positive comments on blogs where there are few other comments posted. To me, there isn't much point in doing the blog if I'm not going to get any feedback.....
Ok...off to the studio.

Teri, I check your blog every day and am always thrilled when you've written something. Some days, when I try to post a comment, it won't let me. That was mostly in the beginning of my blogging days though, so maybe I was doing something wrong. I wrote something similar about loving comments in mine a few days ago and got lots of nice comments. Hope it works for you, too. Isn't it nice to know that people care? Keep up the great work. Lisa

Hey Teri, I love reading the artist blogs, yours included. I feel thrilled to see projects come into being, or maybe I can identify with the creative struggle... the daily stuff is how we get to know one another, and I like that as well. I agree that it is nice to get feedback, so time permitting, I will try to post more comments, too. Jen

Hi Teri,
I also read your blog every day and enjoy it - I'm sorry I haven't written any comments so far. I'm the world's worst lurker but please ma'am I'll try to do better!

Teri: One thing I love about you (which started with the Quiltart list) is your direct honesty about your feelings and life's realities! We need to let each other know our true feelings in a positive way and you are such a good role model.

Interesting. I wrote privately to a friend just this morning about no comments and traffic being way down on my site. I just assumed I was being boring.

Thank you all. Since I don't have a counter on my site I have no clue if anyone is reading. Thanks for easing my mind.
Yep Gerrie, it is also my downfall as I am often painfully blunt. But, at 47, I am not going to change now. Carol...i wil do better to post to you because I check your blog daily. Actually, there are only a few I don't check daily and that is because I know the person tends to post only once in a while....
Love you all!

I think part of the problem is there are now so many people on the ring. Between this new blogging hobby and QuiltArt net, I feel like I'm spending a huge amount of time on email and the blog.
I'm not complaining, but I end up only going through the ring completely about once a week. So when I do, I might only post comments on a couple of sites about something that really jumps out at me. Often it seems like everyone's getting along fine, and it's not that people aren't reading, but a comment isn't necessary.
I guess if you want more comments it seems to work better to post a direct question like this (since you've already gotten 6 comments) or like Gabriel did yesterday. I always feel like I'm too blunt also, so I hope this doesn't come off to harsh! Keep up the good work - I think there's something we can all learn about ourselves by keeping a journal, but it's also nice too to share it with others on a blog.

I moved my blog to a server we were using for my main website because I wanted to be able to check the statistics of visitors.
I remembered reading somewhere that there are services you can use if you're using Blogger hosting services, so I did a google and here's the best information I could find. I'm sure you could find out more for yourself if you're interested.

i read most of the blogs in this ring almost once a day and I am not a member of the ring!! I enjoy seeing and reading about folks who are persuing the some of the same things that I like. And as I, ( as Sonji says ) am rewriting my story at the moment this group of folks gives me a context to do that in ....thanks for your blog keep writing I'm reading!!!!Ginger

I go through the ring at least 2x a day...upon rising or during the early morn if I can't sleep and then again before turning in, and if i miss some, i take lunch at my desk and will pop on to see whats happening...because the ring has grown so, I try to spread my comments around knowing that I can't possibly comment with each update.
initially i started my blog to "talk to myself" because all day long i'm listening mostly to the voice of others and i just needed to carve some space to document my own stuff, especially around my desire to make beautifully intense quilted pieces :)

Teri...I love the blogs too... They leave me inspired! And the words of encouragement from you on the Purple Martin House are so appreciated. I'm honored to have comments from an artist like you!

Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.
Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
