Well, I have accomplished SOMETHING this weekend. Was agonizing over what to do with Anne D's piece. This came to me when I was trying to take a nap....never did get the nap in....Now this will be offin the mail to Jannie in the Netherlands. I am looking forward to getting Kay's piece to work on....I am waiting for Jannie's to do any beadwork out of fear of messing Jannie up....I KNOW from experience how difficult it is to machine quilt after beads are attached..... Posted by Hello

Lack of Momentum
Since I got back from Florida I have accomplished zilch. Ok, it's only been 4 days but still....

I have sat at the sewing machine maybe twice. Made one of 4 curtains and one of 4 swags. Whoopee. The only thing creative I have done is work on #2 in the Round and Round Series. Still struggling with a name but I think I have it. Going to keep it to myself since I tend to change my mind 3 or 4 (or 15) times.

Ok, I am struggling to fight off a cold (and losing) so I get up in the morning and get Joey off to school then back to bed. Up to sew, back to we see a pattern developing here??

Now I am off to school to pick up Joey from the Mid-Winter Festival basketball game...Sigh.....I wish I had some energy.

Back to Reality
Well, I am back from Florida and I miss the sunshine already. Altho it was sunny on and off here today.....I also miss listening to the ocean at night when I am falling asleep. I have a CD of ocean waves but it just isn't the same.

I have put a small dent in the hand quilting of the second piece in the "Round and Round" series. Of course, this piece is much bigger and will take much longer but it's a good "night time while watching TV" project.

I have printed out the pic my friend took of Monument Valley using the "Big Picture" computer program I picked up on eBay ( and it came out real good. Now I just need to tape it all together and put the freezer paper over and trace. That should keep me busy the rest of the week.

Hope everyone has been well!

Friday Night and I'm feeling all right!
It's finally done, sleeve and all and photographed. The companion piece, still unnamed, is nearly done and I have TOO MANY IDEAS RUNNING AROUND IN MY BRAIN. This is where I get into trouble....I get so overwhelmed that I go into shutdown. I have so much work to get done around the house, I have to get ready to leave for Florida on Wednesday, and I have so many great ideas and not enough time to execute them prior to leaving. So, instead of diving in and getting as much done as I can, I find I avoid the studio.

Well, I am going to try to break that chain....I am going to get up at the weekday time tomorrow, put the coffee on, throw some clothes in the wash, and go right to the studio. I want to take the companion piece with me so I can quilt it while I am down visiting my dad so I have to finish it.

Let's see how I do when I have an audience to report to!

Another day.....another sleeve
Almost have the sleeve sewn on Round and Round Series- *Going with the Flow*. After that, just need to stitch on the label and add one last bead and it will be photographed and it goes to the gallery in Richland. Piece number far unnamed, is on the design board and nearly completed as far as fusing goes. It will travel with me to my winter visit to my dad in Florida so I can work on quilting it. My goal is to get it completed in time to photograph and get slides to enter it in a show with a May 10 deadline.

Sigh....time to finish attaching the sleeve to *Flow.*

Original questions pertain to music:
> 1. What is the total number of files currently on your computer?

Not a clue but I know that, when my file scan runs (once a week), it's over 100,000.
> 2. What was the last CD you bought?

> 3. What was the last song/cd you listened to before receiving this

Not sure, something on NPR by a Russian composer I never heard of before but I liked it!
> 4. List the five songs you listen to most, or the ones that have the most
> meaning to you.

Death & Transfiguration- Strauss (tone poem)
Danny Boy
24 by Switchfoot (Christian Rock)
Honolulu City Lights by the Beamer Brothers
With Eagles Wings

> 5. Who are the three people you will tag (note: they need blogs)

Carol Logan Newbill
Diana Klau
Leslie Blair

> MY questions, which pertain to tv:
> 1. How many programs do you currently have programmed to automatically
> record each week?

> 2. What was the last DVD you watched?

> 3. What did you watch on TV last night?

> 4. What are 5 of the most memorable TV moments?

Watching the planes crash into the World Trade Center
Watching the Columbia break up
Seeing the devistation in the far east after the tsunami
Ronald Reagan's funeral (seeing how frail Nancy looked)
Ken Jenning's finally losing on Jeopardy!

Oy! Finally getting somewhere.....Nick's quilt is done and in the mail to another list member to be bound and washed then it will be on it's way to Nick. He is going to the Daytona 500 compliments of the "Make a Wish" Foundation and have Dale Jr. autograph it (it's a NASCAR quilt in black, red and white with many references to Jr., Nick's favorite driver). I do not have a picture of the quilt but hope to have one of it once Nick receives it.

Today I put the back on "Going with the Flow", first of the Round and Round series and did the additional stitching to connect the front and back. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I need to add a label, hanging sleeve and one last bead and it will be done. Once it is, I will add a picture here.

Also finished the foundation for a progressive I am involved in with my Art2Mail compatriates. I will be mailing to Jannie in the Netherlands. This is great as I have ties to the Netherlands.

While I was working on the foundation I came up with an idea for a new series of postcards. I still have to send out from round 2 and round 3 offically started today so I have to get cracking.

Have #2 of the Round and Round series on the design board and almost done fusing. I want to get it put together with the preliminary backing and batting so I can work on quilting it while I am in Florida from February 9th- 21st. In that time I should be able to get most of the quilting done. This is a piece I hope to enter in the "Fine Art Quilts 2005" show. SInce the deadline isn't until May, I hope to get one other piece done also.

I joined the "Woman Made" Gallery in Chicago and received the Winter newsletter. I am very excited about this gallery and hope to visit there in April if I make it down there for the quilt show or wander down to visit my niece and nephew who are both students at Loyola (Andrea is in Med School and Adam an undergrad in Business- HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY ACE!!!!). Please be sure to check out the gallery's web site at:

Ok....time to relax with NCIS and my knitting!!

I am going to die at 74. When are you? Click here to find out!

About Me: Studio Art Quilt Associates for the Atlantic Canada Region (New Brunswick, Newfoundland/Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island). Quote:Apples and Wine: Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough & smart enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the hell out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
